Memories - Fine Art Giclée Print
C$34.99
Memories began with the image of a woman at the edge of a river, her hands letting go of a bundle of photographs. The water takes them one by one, their images dissolving into the current, until what was once so vivid drifts toward disappearance. For me, this painting speaks to the fragile ways we hold onto the past, and the inevitability of its slipping away. Photographs are meant to preserve and they promise permanence, a way of holding moments still. Yet grief teaches us how fragile those promises are. We clutch at memory, but it shifts and fades, sometimes against our will, sometimes because holding on is too heavy. The river becomes both witness and keeper, carrying the images away, but never entirely erasing them. Like memory itself, it distorts, fragments, transforms, and yet it holds traces that remain. Memories is about the moment when we surrender what we cannot keep, the ache of watching it slip beyond reach, and the quiet hope that even in loss, something endures, carried forward by the current, woven into the water, held in ways we may not see.
