Everyday Watercolour: Mushrooms, Moths, and Woodland Wonders
Explore the small treasures of the forest through painting mushrooms, moths, and autumn leaves.
Course Description
Take a little walk through the forest without leaving your painting table. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly watercolour workshop, we’ll explore the small treasures you might notice along the way, from mushrooms and moths to interesting leaves, seed pods, moss, and other tiny details hiding among the trees. You’ll learn how to observe and simplify natural shapes, mix the earthy and muted colours found in the forest, and use layering, dry brush, texture, and other watercolour techniques to bring these small discoveries to life. We’ll create a 4”x6” forest-inspired painting of some of your favourite woodland wonders. No previous watercolour experience is needed. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to build on your existing skills, you’ll have demonstrations, guidance, and individual support throughout the workshop. All supplies are provided, and you’ll leave with a finished painting and a collection of new techniques to use in your own watercolour practice. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or looking to rediscover your creativity, the Everyday Watercolour Workshop Series is designed to help you feel comfortable exploring watercolour at your own pace. Each workshop features a different theme, giving you the opportunity to try new subjects, techniques, and creative approaches while building a strong foundation in watercolour. Every session begins with an introduction to the medium, including essential techniques, colour mixing, and practical tips to help you better understand how watercolour behaves. You'll then follow along with step-by-step demonstrations before creating your own finished painting to take home. These workshops are designed to encourage curiosity, experimentation, and confidence. Rather than focusing on perfection, you'll learn how to embrace the unique qualities of watercolour while developing skills you can continue to use in your own creative practice. No previous experience is required, and all materials and supplies are included. Just bring yourself and a willingness to play, learn, and enjoy the process. What to expect: - A new theme and project in every workshop - A guided introduction to watercolour techniques and colour mixing - Step-by-step demonstrations and individual support - All supplies provided - A finished painting to take home at the end of the session
